It has been tradition in our family right from my childhood memories till today as whenever I have to go for some important official work out of city or certification exams, my mother gives me a bowl of sugar with some curd and Dabur honey mix with it. Also specially in winter, my mother always buy Dabur Chyawanprash every year so that I remain fit, healthy and my body is strong enough to fight again cold, fever and other diseases. My mother is very strict from my school days and in one of my school incident ,I remember that I missed my school bus just to have milk with Dabur honey and my dad had to drop me to school though he was getting late for office meeting.
According to grandma, she always tells me that I am her real wealth and worth more than money or anything else. She takes my health very seriously and even when I had cough or nose running, she comes to our home or calls my mom to make green tea with tulsi leaves and serve it after dinner. She does not have trust over English medicine or antibiotics and uses Ayurvedic products for skin glow and other small things. This all shows that how important for a child to remain healthy and many times, my grandma tells me that real happiness and wealth all lies in our hands and depends upon ourselves and our health
My grandfather is not with us anymore but used to go for morning walk everyday and never used a toothbrush in his whole life time and used to believe in nature herbs and used to chew tulsi leaves every day. My father explains to me many times that our human body is like a machine which requires enough vitamins and other essential supplements to make it strong and healthy. I completely agree on his statement through my own experience when I was admitted to the hospital for 4 days as I was suffering from food poisoning and was given all sorts of strong medicines and injection by doctors. I could feel the pain which my family was bearing and at the same time, my dad had to cancel all his appointments and office work for me. My mom had to take leave for holidays. It disturbed our daily routine and happiness until I was declared fit and discharged by the doctor. I also could not study that time and this could be seen in my report card. So overall I realised that how important is to stay healthy and avoid eating junk food or from street hawkers.
Now I am married and have adopted some of my habits which I learned during my childhood and still try to follow them. Now I am more responsible toward my family and as my parents getting old, I try to make sure they have good diet and fruits and green vegetable every morning. I usually buy stuff from reliance store but still ask my wife to boil the vegetables and wash fruits daily. Besides that, we have incorporated a yoga plan for family where we sit together in the morning and see Astha channel for yoga exercises and try to learn about ways to be fit and be strong mentally.
In future, as our family will grow and a new baby will be there and as a parent, I just want to wish that my child remains healthy and what else would a father or mother wants……some blessings for his child, a healthy life and ultimately happy family!
