It is more than sixty years since we got freedom from British rule and developed our constitution. We have got everything from latest information technology, communication channels, government institutions, infrastructure and connectivity. But still we are considered backwards as the country faces the one of the biggest problem of cleanliness and hygiene. This has raised serious concern about India image and their approach to provide better amenities to their citizens and keeping the country clean. We all have been part of this menace by our bad habits of throwing garbage, smoking in public and violating rules. The worst part is that our attitude remains selfish and most of us care for our well being. We are so much busy in our lives and blame government bodies for this mess and not doing their duty. It is not only about keeping the country clean but we need to stand up and change our attitude too.
Our country faces many challenges in terms of rape cases, women sexual exploitation, child labour and corruption. All this has affected the common man and youth. The new government with its campaign Swatch Bharat is just the beginning and requires more efforts to make India clean. I feel the campaign should not only focus on sanitation drives and building toilets but also rise to other social causes. We need better co-ordination among various government bodies and commitment from them. The worst part is that still Indian women feel insecure and crimes have increased even after The Nirbhaya case in Delhi few years back. I felt very upset after hearing about this shocking incident where an innocent girl lost her life. After the incident, the youth of the country has come forward to raise the voice and anger against the government. But still we need to be more responsible and everyone should initiatives to speak and rise up to fight against issues which need attention from every part of the society. We all need to start asking questions to the government on their policies and how they are planning to figure out all these issues. We all are paying income and other taxes from our hard earned money for development of country. All we need is security, clean environment and better governance.
The need of hour is that government is more accountable and transparent and we should not take among ourselves but use right to information act to ask them questions or get updates. We cannot just stay silent and be a spectator to Swatch Bharat campaign. I would encourage everyone to be part of Strepsils India #AbMontuBolega campaign Kyuki Bin Bole Ab Nahi Chalega. To be part of this initiative, refer to their website at http://www.abmontubolega.com/ and Strepsils India on Face book and Twitter.
The focus of the campaign is too use social media as a medium and give opportunity to people to raise their concerns and give opinions on various social issues without any fear and with freedom of expression.Stepsil with this campaign is sending clear message to everyone to connect with them, speak up and take the step to clean India.
